Autumn is upon us! Leaves are changing & falling, the streets are littered with discarded Starbucks pumpkin spice latte cups, and it’s time to break out those sweaters! Except for one problem, I don’t really own any sweaters. The Arc’teryx Covert Hoody will have to do, right?
The wool-textured Polartec ThermalPro sweater knit fabric technology creates a high-loft fleece with the highest warmth-to-weight ratio of any Polartec fleece available. The fabric is incredibly comfortable with tons of stretch and mobility for hiking, climbing and camping. The Polartec ThermalPro is incredibly breathable for the trails and crisp weather commutes. For 2014, the Covert Hoody employs Arc’teryx’s new Alpenex fabric. According to their website, the material is denser with a lower profile, which means less space in your bag!
The Arc’teryx Covert Hoody has two incredibly deep, zippered hand pockets to hold all of your things and one zippered sleeve pocket. All have laminated zippers. The balaclava-style hood is substantial and covers my enormous head with some room for layering underneath. The average weight of this is 14.9 oz.
Only con? The length of this is short and tends to ride up underneath my backpack. People with longer torsos might struggle with this. Unfortunately, sizing up is not an option as this is a fairly roomy fleece to begin with.
All in all, I am glad I picked this impulse buy up. It’s been a staple piece in my closet for the cooler weather on my way to work, for outdoor adventures, and for general lazying around.
