The Mountain Hardwear Scrambler 30 isn’t anything new for 2016, but this trusty backpack has survived 2015 and 2016 without any real issues. It’s the bag that I reach for over and over again for hiking, climbing and commuting. It’s burly enough to withstand inclement weather and holds a ton of gear and snacks for a day at the crag. You can even strap a rope on top for the approach, or for biking to the gym for a post-work climbing sesh. After two years of abuse, it’s a little worn in some spots, but it’s nothing a little duct tape can’t fix. Now this workhorse of a bag can be yours.
Gear
Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway Extravaganza. It’s been a great year with some great gear we’re teaming up with Midwest Basecamp, Missouri Howell and some of our favorite brands to give away a bunch of our top-rated and favorite outdoor gear of 2016.
Sometimes the weather outside is frightful, and your home just feels so delightful. There’s no shame in hibernating at home every once in a while. For those days, shop these artists that bring the outside inside.

‘Tis the season for short(er) approaches, shorter days, and lots of try hard. When you’re at a crag with a high concentration of problems, who wants to put real shoes on to move 100 feet to the next route, spot a friend, or use the bathroom? That’s where the Arc’teryx Arakys approach shoe excels.
No When I think of perfect, outdoor puffy blankets, I think of Rumpl. I think of fog swirling in the trees, or an artfully framed railroad. They’ve got that image on lock. Then I think of the price of that blanket. I think about how my aesthetic is frantically digging poo holes, ripping holes in clothing, and not showering. Then I realize that Rumpl is not for me. Thankfully Therm-a-Rest introduced their affordable line of tech blankets which includes the Stellar Blanket.
